The CEAL Executive Board has created an organizational calendar, where the regular activities of Executive Board members are listed chronologically. EB members and CEAL general membership are welcome to consult this calendar, available in PDF on the CEAL website, as they make plans for CEAL events such as the annual meeting, the publication of JEAL, planning for elections, etc. The Calendar is intended to create a widely available "corporate memory" for CEAL, providing information about what needs to be done, and when.
The new Organizational Calendar page (with the calendar available in PDF) is here. As the chair of the EB Calendar task force, I would be happy to receive questions about the calendar and suggestions for other events to include.
Regards,
Rob

Dear all,
The CEAL Committee on Technical Processing is pleased to host the following webinar. We look forward to see you in the session. Instruction on login to the webinar will be send to the registered participants by Monday, June 11, 2012.
- Title: Webinar on Chinese Rare Book Cataloging: Descriptive cataloging focus
- Date & Time: Wednesday, June 13, 2:30-4:30 pm (EDT)/11:30-1:30 (PDT) –2 hours
- Presenter: Haihui Zhang, University of Pittsburgh
- Presentation language: CHINESE
Description: This session will help catalogers who are responsible for Chinese materials cataloging to get familiarized with Cataloging Guidelines for Creating Chinese Rare Book Records in Machine-Readable Form. This session will focus on descriptive cataloging rather than identifying Chinese rare book versions (some of important version related concepts will be briefly mentioned). The presenter will go through MARC fields with samples of Chinese rare books. Explanations will particularly focus on how to determine and select relevant bibliographic information for each field from the book in hand, and from other reference books when cataloging a Chinese rare book, and how to make notes in 5xx field.
Due to a number of special terms in Chinese rare books this session will be presented in Chinese.
Registration fee: Free
Registration deadline: Friday, June 8, 2012
