Update: Wi-Fi in Meeting Rooms Will Be Available

FYI
Contrary to my previous understanding, Wi-Fi will be available in the Sheraton Centre Toronto meeting rooms for CEAL 2017. I confirmed this today with the AV provider for the Sheraton. Also the AAS information sheet, "Know Before You Go" says:
We will provide complimentary Wi-Fi in all meeting rooms and common spaces in the Sheraton. Use the code AAS2017 to connect. Additionally, all attendees staying at the Sheraton or the Hilton will also receive complimentary internet in hotel rooms.

Seeking Nominations for NCC Council Members

During 2017 the North American Coordinating Council on Japanese Library Resources (the NCC) will fill three elected positions, two for librarians and one for a social sciences faculty member.  NCC Council Members are elected for three-year terms, in these cases the terms will run from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2020.  Once elected members will be expected to take part in NCC Committees and Working Groups and are likely to be asked to co-chair one or more such groups.

As is required by its by-laws, the NCC seeks to include among Council members faculty and librarians from diverse regions of the country, from institutions of varying size, and from Japanese and East Asian studies programs with a range of strengths and foci.  Selection of candidates will, therefore, take into consideration current representation on those committees in filling these positions. A list of the current Council Members and is contained in the About NCC section of the website at http://guides.nccjapan.org/content.php?pid=246207&sid=2033554.  A brief description of positions follows:

NCC Elected Librarian Council Members: The two librarian positions to be filled in 2017 are for librarian members from a range of institutions and regions, and from institutions with collections of all sizes both those broadly covering Japan and East Asia and those that may be more specialized.  Past experience as a member of an NCC committee or working group or a CEAL committee, as well as other service to the field is desirable.

NCC Elected Social Sciences Faculty Member: Elected faculty members are chosen to represent not only a range of institutions and regions but also to represent a diversity of disciplines, time periods and research methodologies.  The social science faculty member may come from any field of social sciences and must have an active engagement with libraries and library-related issues.  An interest in digital scholarship and participation in disciplinary and field wide service is also of important consideration.

To propose a candidate for one of these positions, please send an email nomination by March 20, 2017 to NCC Chair Setsuko Noguchi snoguchi@princeton.edu and to NCC Executive Director Victoria Bestor at vbestor@fas.harvard.edu.  Self-nominations are welcome.  For further information about these positions and other NCC activities please visit the website.
