2018 CEAL Election Date and Process

Dear CEAL members:

I am honored and delighted to announce that Feb. 18,  2018 is the beginning of the 2018 CEAL Election when every member should expect to receive the online ballot individually through email and March 12, 2018 is the end of the election. During the election period, you will also receive the related reminders.

This year, we need to elect Vice President/President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, and Two Members-at-Large (in general area).

I encourage everyone to participate this most important democratic procedure of our org. and cast your vote.

Please join me to thank those who volunteered to be the candidates of this election, and whose great spirits of serving the community make everyone of them an ultimate winner, and those who working very hard to make the election ballot ready and whose contributions to the process are deeply appreciated by CEAL and our profession.

Last call for CEAL and AAS 2018 membership renewal - 2/8/2018 - deadline

Dear CEAL Members,

Just a friendly reminder that the HARD deadline to renew your CEAL membership so you can vote in the 2018 CEAL election is Thursday, February 8th. Different from previous years, this year we will not be able to entertain any renewals after the February 8th deadline, because of the amount of time needed to prepare the ballot. Please refer to http://www.eastasianlib.org/cmb/joinceal.htm to check your membership status and to renew your membership, if needed, before Feb. 8th.

My deepest gratitude to the chairs and members of the standing committees, sub-committees, and task forces, some of them have started to work on forming their programs as early as right after the last annual meeting and been still working on the related details.

2017 CEAL post conference survey report available!

Update: Wi-Fi in Meeting Rooms Will Be Available

Contrary to my previous understanding, Wi-Fi will be available in the Sheraton Centre Toronto meeting rooms for CEAL 2017. I confirmed this today with the AV provider for the Sheraton. Also the AAS information sheet, "Know Before You Go" says:

We will provide complimentary Wi-Fi in all meeting rooms and common spaces in the Sheraton. Use the code AAS2017 to connect. Additionally, all attendees staying at the Sheraton or the Hilton will also receive complimentary internet in hotel rooms.

CEAL Election Voting Eligibility Window Now Closed

Dear Friends,
Eligibility to vote in CEAL elections is based on 1) Current Membership in AAS and 2) Payment of CEAL dues for the current year (click here for details).

As I announced recently, the CEAL 2017 election is set to begin on Monday February 13th at 12:01 AM PST. The cutoff date for voting eligibility was officially 1/31/2017. During the past week, we have accepted late applications for CEAL membership, to allow as many as possible to vote. However, the window for eligibility to vote in the 2017 election is now closed.
